Two

Exactly one week to the day after Teagan was born Saul and I celebrated our second wedding anniversary and seventh dating anniversary (yes, they're the same day). We found it ironic that our daughter was born on April 27th because we had debated getting married on the 27th prior to settling on May 4th. Back when we were planning the wedding we had an issue (don't really know why) with getting married on our dating anniversary so we discussed the Saturday before which was April 27th. The venue we ended up choosing for our wedding, City Club, had April 27th available but not May 4th. I don't know what made us all of a sudden decide that we wanted May 4th (maybe it was wanting what we couldn't have?) but City Club had another event booked for the 4th. All of a sudden we were super disappointed and set on wanting to get married on the 4th instead of April 27th. The people at City Club made a few phone calls and got the other event moved to April 27th and freed up May 4th for our wedding. Little did we know that fate was reserving April 27th for our daughter's birth and giving us the perfect date for our anniversary.
-tangent finished-

We had a one week old (the best possible anniversary gift) for our anniversary so we knew we'd be doing something extremely low-key to celebrate. Last year we followed the anniversary gift guidelines when we got our "paper" scuba licenses in Fiji. The traditional gift for the second anniversary is china. Being that we were about to move to Samoa when we got married we registered for honeymoon goodies instead of classic wedding registry items (like china). We decided that this anniversary was the perfect opportunity to get proper china place settings so off to Crate and Barrel we went. In lieu of individual gifts we got a 20-piece china place setting that hopefully lasts us for a long while, and will always remind us of our second wedding registry.

We got some Chicago style deep dish pizza and a bottle of wine and headed to our dining room for our anniversary dinner. My first alcohol in what seems like forever! I had one glass right after I breast-fed Teagan and enjoyed pizza with my husband. We also did the unthinkable and ate some of our original wedding cake! The tradition goes that you're supposed to save the top tier of your wedding cake in the freezer until your first wedding anniversary. We were in Samoa on our first anniversary so we saved it for our second anniversary. Don't know how healthy that really is but hey, no mold! Granted it wasn't nearly as fabulous as it was on our wedding day. We took two bites and tossed that sucker out and had some Sweet Jill's marble cake to finish off dessert.

It was a lovely anniversary with the man I love and our new addition, Miss Teagan. It's been an amazing 2 (or 7 years) and I can only hope the next 2 (or 7 years) are even a fraction as wonderful.

We drove to Costa Mesa to pick up Rance's Chicago Pizza. Nom.

Teagan was not happy that she had to sit in her Mamaroo during the festivities.

Not quite as pretty as it was two years ago. ;-P

That's all we got through before we tossed it. It didn't necessarily taste bad but something is pretty off-putting about eating two year old cake haha.
